I found this exercise to be both easy and difficult. It was incredibly easy to come up with things that bug me when it is in reference to people being the bug. I get easily annoyed by people on a regular basis, but rarely voice my annoyances. Having this outlet to voice what bugs me what incredibly satisfying. However, I noticed about halfway through my list that I should try to focus more on products and services that bug me, and less on the flaws of humanity. These bugs were quite difficult to come up with, because if I am bothered by a product or service, I do not purchase the product again or use that service again.
I definitely can relate to some of these bugs! It seems like a lot of your bugs stem from your roommate being very inconsiderate. Don't worry you aren't the only one; I've read a few of our classmates' bug lists and many of them had roommate issues on their lists. I like how in your reflection you distinguished your bugs from flaws of humanity and annoyances from products and services.

Kate,
ReplyDeleteI'm glad you were able to come up with things for this list so easily (though that might actually be a bad thing because you encounter irritants so regularly). The only real bug that we have in common would be #19 on your list about unreliable internet service! My bug was more about cell phone service.
I probably had more trouble finding out the things that we had in common because I mostly did products/services and you did a lot of human behavior--all of which I have to agree with you is vastly inconsiderate. I had such a hard time thinking of things companies did/did not do that bothered me! Again, I'm glad one of us had a far easier time.
If you'd like, you can take a look at the things I found rather bothersome on my blog:

Perhaps you too may find things you agree can be improved.
